Spiritual Travel; A Practical Guide To Soulful Journeys Without Getting On A Plane is a new site-specific work that invites local residents to holiday in their own city. The work is Renae’s response to increased work hours, we know that ‘proper rest and recovery is important, not just for long-term health and happiness but also for resilience at work, productivity and performance’(The Gardian 2013) however rest is rarely a priority in our busy lives. In the form of a walking tour, the project will be performed and co-created by travellers who will guide the audience through iconic locations encouraging them to adopt their perspectives on the surrounds. At times they may experience sound installations, video projections and theatre scenes that invite the audience to see their home from a new vantage point.
The first stage took place in December 2013 at the Performing Arts Forum (PAF) in St Erme, France. At PAF Renae created and performed the work in response to St Erme and had a showing for local residents. Documented by Italian media artist, Virginia Francia.
